シンポジウム発表テーマについて

Fellowship Award受賞者と同様のテーマで、ご発表いただきます。
第116回については、以下の2テーマのいずれかからお選びください。

1. Mental health and work life balance of psychiatrists

In Japan, with the progression of aging with a decreased birth rate and the recent rise in the total number of female doctors, an increasing number of medical doctors are working while parenting and/or caregiving today. In such a situation, it is not easy for psychiatrists to maintain their mental/physical health, while balancing their work and lives or simultaneously fulfilling their roles in society and their households.

The Fellowship Award Symposium in 2020 will address issues related to psychiatrists, including their work status, their work-life balance, and support for the maintenance of mental health provided in their workplaces. During the event, environmental arrangements for psychiatrists in various situations to expand their activities with fulfillment in society will be discussed.

Applicants are kindly asked to submit their abstracts meeting the following requirements:

  1. National background factors
e.g., Please present data regarding psychiatrists’ work status and problematic points, such as the number of psychiatrists per population, their age structure, sex ratio, working style (full-time/part-time, employed/private-practice), and sex ratios in each working style and management position.
  2. Systems, cultures, and customs
e.g., Please report the current status and challenges related to psychiatrists’ work-life balance, such as role-sharing for housekeeping/parenting/caregiving and sex differences in the rate of utilizing systems to support parenting/caregiving.
  3. Psychiatrists’ mental health status and workplace approaches
e.g., Please report the current situation of psychiatrists, such as psychiatrist turnover, suicide, and burnout, the management of difficult patients and patient suicide cases, mentor, vacation, and parenting/caregiving support systems available in workplaces, and workplace systems and approaches to protect mental health.
  4. Future perspectives
Please present measures to be adopted on a nationwide or global basis, in your opinion, to improve psychiatrists’ mental health and work-life balance.

2. Case Vignette

Regarding the case , applicants are kindly asked to submit their abstracts meeting the following.

  1. Describe assessment and clinical information (psychiatric diagnosis based on ICD-10, DSM-5, and if any, using your own country’s diagnostic system). If any, describe additional examination or assessment tool to confirm diagnosis in your country.
  2. Are there any epidemiological studies for similar cases above? If not, describe frequency of seeing similar cases in your own country.
  3. Describe the methods of interventions (e.g., pharmacotherapy, psychotherapy, psycho-social intervention, brain stimulation therapy, and/or a unique therapy in your country).
  4. How are you going to address this issue to his/her family and/or school?
