Signing of The Prague Agreement

Update: February 27, 2026New

The Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology (hereafter referred to as “JSPN”) has officially co-signed the global call to action, The Prague Agreement, which was announced at the World Psychiatric Association (WPA) Annual Congress held in Prague, Czech Republic, in October 2025, thereby expressing our support for this agreement.

The Prague Agreement is a coalition of national psychiatric associations and mental health charities and organizations calling on global financial institutions, including capital markets, the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), to incentivise and expect national investment in mental health care. The agreement reframes mental health not only as a human rights imperative, but as a strategic investment in sustainable national prosperity.

As a member of the international psychiatric community, the JSPN endorses the principles of The Prague Agreement and believes it is important to contribute to the dissemination of its vision and to the realization of its objectives.
